Laura was born in New York and lives in Brooklyn. She is a multidisciplinary artist working in sculpture, video, performance, installation, painting and drawing. She is currently working on an immersive installation inspired by Medieval Bestiaries. Laura’s work explores the dialectic relationship between the exemplary and the freakish, voyeurism and the inherently creature-like nature of the body. Her work looks to fantasy as a way to assert control over the unfamiliar. Laura has multiple works on display at the National Dance Institute in New York as part of its permanent collection. She is a performer in Tamar Ettun’s The Moving Company and Director of The Moving Companie’s Social Project. Currently an Artist in The Marketplace (AIM) ’17 resident at The Bronx Museum of Arts, Laura received her MFA in Interdisciplinary Art with a certificate in Time-Based & Interactive Media and Tobey Devan Lewis Fellowship from the University of Pennsylvania. She holds her BFA in Sculpture from RISD. She has worked as a prop fabricator, a costume designer, and a mural painter for interiors of homes and restaurants.
