Yuisa is an Early Intervention Special Educator, certified Children’s Yoga teacher, writer and photographer. She has a MSEd in Special Education with a specialization in Severe and Multiple Disabilities including Deaf-Blindness, MSEd in Curriculum and Teaching and a BA in English Language Arts with a focus on Writing. In 2015, Yuisa began exploring pottery and has developed a love for wheel throwing and hand-building pinch pots.
Yuisa has worked as a Reading Teacher at the elementary level before moving towards Special Education, where she served as a Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) and an Educational Evaluator for the Committee of Preschool Special Education in New York City. She also provided Special Instruction, and worked as a Developmental Evaluator for the Early Intervention Program of New York- Department of Health.
In Mexico City, Yuisa developed and implemented an educational children’s yoga program called Be Bright, that incorporates the arts for children of all abilities by offering art, yoga therapy and instruction to children living in an orphanage or residence. The program’s mission is to offer all children the opportunity to experience the healing benefits of creative arts and yoga while learning.
Today, Yuisa administers and facilitates her charity Be Bright-to children residing in The Covenant House Mother & Child Crisis Center in NYC.
