Virtual Reality, Minecraft, and more at the Video Game Expo

Virtual reality, real-life Minecraft, kittens in space! CMA’s Video Game Expo on Saturday, Dec. 3, took visitors into the world of video game design where they got to learn all about what it takes to create one. Presented in partnership with Playcrafting, the expo brought together local coders, designers and game design teachers with young artist eager to learn the video game creation process.

The morning kicked off with a special Minecraft Heads workshop. Inspired by the virtual game Minecraft, young artists designed their own life-size Minecraft character head and brought it to life with LittleBits lights and motors, combining art and technology. Grownups enthusiastically watched as children transformed their creative designs into 3D characters!

In the afternoon, young artists had the opportunity to enter the world of virtual reality with VR headsets provided by Mokuni Games. Using a scanner, children transferred their clay sculptures into a virtual world they were then able to view with the headsets. Young artists excitedly watched their own sculptures come to life!
