This foundations class introduces young artists to fine arts fundamentals and techniques through the exploration of notable, diverse artists such as Joan Mitchell, Cy Twombly, Kerry James Marshall and Mondrian, as well as a range of drawing and painting mediums. Through a series of projects, including drawing from life, landscape painting, and portraiture, students will be exposed to the fundamentals of color, line, texture, shape, and more. Each student will end the semester with his or her own portfolio of unique artworks!
Gabrielle Blumenthal is a poet, artist and educator living in Manhattan. After graduating from Bennington College with a focus in Literature and the Visual Arts, she received recognition from the Academy of American Poets for her poem, God is a Man and was a 2015 recipient of the Bennington MFA Undergraduate Writing Fellowship.
