Using acrylic paint, watercolor and gouache, young artists in this class will explore color, perspective and mark making. The class will focus on painting from observation: still life, landscape, and the human figure. Projects will develop students’ technical abilities and creative problem solving techniques while studying impasto, under painting, layering and transparency. Young artists will end the semester with a series of paintings as well as preparatory studies demonstrating their growth in understanding paint as a material to create illusion, composition, scale and color.
