The Renaissance was an explosion of ideas, education, and literacy, which produced some of the greatest artwork and artists in history! Did you know, the word “renaissance” means “rebirth”? Young artists will study the works of Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci among others, and they will learn the techniques of these Italian masters. Students will create a piece of artwork in the style of a fresco painting; learn to sketch Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man; construct one of Da Vinci’s designs, an Ornithopter – a flying machine that flapped its wings like a bird; create a facade in “marble” while studying Michelangelo’s architectural forms, and much more!
