Spend the summer with Children’s Museum of the Arts on Governors Island! CMA’s week-long summer camps run from June through September out of its Governors Island-based studio in one of the historic homes on the island. Your child can capture the magnificence of the island with photography, explore the arts of ancient times, learn how to animate their own film, illustrate their own story, and so much more!
These technique-based classes are led by CMA’s team of Teaching Artists who design each camp’s curriculum off their own artistic practices. Campers have the unique opportunity to learn comic book design from illustrators, animation from filmmakers, screen printing from textile artists, and more. Sign up your young creator for as many weeks as you wish. Classes are from 10 AM-4 PM, with supervised play from 9-10 AM and 4-5 PM included. There is convenient camper drop-off and pick-up from the Governors Island Ferry Building in Battery Park, Manhattan.
All campers must be dropped off at the Governors Island Ferry loading dock at the Battery Maritime Building (10 South St.) and signed over to CMA staff for the 9 AM ferry.

Campers will have one hour of supervised play in Nolan Park before class begins.
Art class runs from 10 AM - 4 PM. Classes take an hour lunch break at 12 PM, with supervised outdoor play on the Island. Campers must bring lunch, snacks, a water bottle and sunscreen.
Campers will have one hour of supervised play in Nolan Park before returning on the ferry.
Campers and CMA staff take the ferry back to the Battery Maritime Building to meet parents for pick up. Parents pick up/sign out campers at the loading dock upon the ferry's arrival.
CMA is not responsible for providing make-up classes or issuing refunds for programs missed as a result of illness, emergencies or other events beyond our control. If you would like to cancel your enrollment in a class, CMA will provide you with a full refund minus a $75 registration fee up to two weeks prior to the start of class. Within two weeks of the start of the class, CMA will provide you with a full refund minus the $75 registration fee ONLY if CMA is able to fill your child’s place in the class. If CMA is unable to fill the place in the class, the class will be non-refundable.
CMA reserves the right to cancel any class due to low enrollment. If a class has 0 students enrolled, you will be notified of the cancellation 4 weeks prior to the start of the class. If a class has only 3 students and under enrolled, you will be notified of the cancellation 2 weeks prior to the start date. If CMA cancels a class that your child is enrolled in, you will have the option to switch classes within the program or receive a full refund. Please sign up early to ensure classes proceed as scheduled.
