Roll up your sleeves and get ready for this hands-on building class! Using wood, newspaper rolls, wire and other found objects, young artists will learn the fundamentals of building structures. Inspired by artists like Charles and Ray Eames, Andrea Zittel, and maker-culture, young artists and engineers will strengthen their brainstorming and illustration abilities as they collaborate on geometric structures and more! Students will experiment with scale and learn the tools needed to build a sound and sturdy construction leaving the class with a collection of magical structures, big and small!
As an emerging New York artist originally from Oregon, Anthony Heinz May is fascinated by relationships humans have built with the natural environment. Experience between the natural and artificial surroundings of where he grew up and now lives respectively, creates the momentum and many points of intersection behind his artistic pursuits.
