Using acrylic paint, watercolor and gouache, young artists in this class will explore color, space, mark and material. The class will focus on painting from observation: still life, landscape, and the human figure. Projects will develop students’ technical abilities and creative problem solving. Young artists will end the week with a series of paintings as well as preparatory studies demonstrating their growth in understanding paint as a material to create illusion, composition, scale and color. Impasto, underpainting, transparency and other experiments will be undertaken throughout the week!
