Explore the fantastical world of Egyptian art! Examine how this ancient society used art to depict the human form, create symbolic language, and interpret the afterlife. Using a variety of mixed media materials, students will work in both 2D and 3D, creating replica artifacts like mummy cases, hieroglyphic messages, and small-scale sculptures. This class includes a field trip to a New York City Cultural Institute’s Egyptian exhibit to see a real sarcophagus, Egyptian temple, ceramics, and more!
