Though CMA is closed for general admission while we undergo our Lobby renovation, we still have plenty of ways you can join us for art making! In addition to our WEE Drop-In hours, we are offering family walking tours where you can make art in the great outdoors.

The walking tours are held on Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 10-11:30 AM while CMA is closed for renovation August 7-25, 2017.

Meeting Location: CMA (103 Charlton Street)
Price: $25 per family, $15 for members
The tours are limited at 12 people. Tickets must be purchased online in advance, no tickets sold upon arrival.

*Please arrive, 10 minutes early for the tour! The tour will leave 103 Charlton right at 10 AM. Wear comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and bring along some water! These fun, interactive tours will be held outside.

August 7-11: Architecture Sketch Tour: SoHo’s Famous Cast Iron Buildings
Step into history with CMA! Join Museum Teaching Artists as we investigate the architectural landscapes of our neighborhood, in particular Cast Iron. Young Artists will employ tools for site specific sketching alongside a series of critical observation techniques.

August 14-18: Sculpture Tour: Site-Specific Installations
Site-specific art, or environmental art, is the process in which an artist creates a piece of art especially for one place or in response to a place. Join CMA Teaching Artists as we curate our own site-specific sculptures and learn about the rich history of this art-making practice in NYC and opportunities for collective or individual projects.

August 21-25: Drawing Tour: Hudson Water Life
Explore the Hudson River with CMA! Join Museum Teaching Artists as we study the natural horizon line of western Manhattan and life, real and imagined of the Hudson. Young Artists will capture the landscape they see before as well as create drawings inspired by life underwater.

*In the case of inclement weather, participants will be notified via email and refunded for the tour.
