Open Arts
Recommended for Grades Pre K, K - 4
In this process-oriented workshop, students will be introduced to the three major disciplines of the visual arts – drawing/painting, collage and sculpture. Students will rotate through work stations as they familiarize themselves with the materials and explore their individual creativity.

Printmaking
Recommended for Grades K - 6
CMA artists will introduce students to the work of New York City artist Keith Haring and teach them basic printmaking techniques. Students will create their own prints and illustrate them by hand to create a story.

Mask Making: Influences from Global Cultures
Recommended for Grades K - 6
Students will learn about the use of masks in various cultures around the world. CMA artists will show students how colors and shapes are used to convey meaning, and assist students as they create their own personal masks.

Students create original works inspired by the works of great master artists such as; Piet Mondrian, Louise Nevelson, Wassily Kandinksy, Alexander Calder, Louise Bourgeois.
Our City
Recommended for Grades K - 6
Using cardboard, paper and other materials, students will work together to build a model city. CMA artists will introduce students to architectural concepts and discuss the work of Red Grooms, Romare Bearden and other well-known artists. Teachers must decide if they want to build a 3-D diorama or create a collaged mural.

Paper Mosaics
Recommended for Grades 1 - 6
Students will create individual self-portraits under the guidance of CMA’s artists. These individual drawings will be brought together to create a large collaborative wall-hanging, which can be hung in the classroom or other shared space.

Intro to Animation
Recommended for Grades 1 - 6
$250 up to 15 students, $300 up to 25 students
In this workshop students will be introduced to the basics of animation. Using CMA’s media lab, students will learn various animation techniques including 2-D animation, found object animation and claymation. Films will be posted on CMA’s website for viewing.
Intro to Claymation
Recommended for Grades 4 - 6
$250 up to 15 students, $300 up to 25 students
In this workshop students will sculpt and animate clay and figures. Teaching Artists will guide students through the basics of building, sculpting, and animating clay figures. Students will then break into groups and collaborate on short stop-motion animated films starring their clay creations.
