RESTART provides free weekly after school art classes to children living in transitional housing. CMA’s teaching artists bring art materials and workshops to participants, ages 3-15, inviting them to explore techniques in painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and other mediums. Each program culminates with an exhibition of the participating children’s artwork and a reception for their families and friends.
CMA currently leads the RESTART program at Henry Street Settlement’s Urban Family Center (UFC) and the Urban Transitional Residency Center in Brownsville, Brooklyn.
RESTART is funded by generous support from the Rose M. Badgeley Residuary Charitable Trust and Rosemary & Michael Ryan.
“I like this art class because we can show ourselves differently through each of our masterpieces that we create. Because everyone is unique in their own way.”
