Led by beloved CMA Teaching Artists, virtual birthday celebrations at CMA offer a personalized spin on our interactive CMA Live! workshops. We were recently voted one of the best birthday parties for kids in Time Out New York!
CMA’s esteemed Director of Early Childhood Education Tom Burnett leads an exploratory and stimulating session specially designed for children ages 5 and under. Children and families can sing original and classic songs, play instruments, tell stories, and make art while listening to Tom’s favorite music, including jazz, The Beatles, and much more.
Enjoy movement and theater games that activate bodies and imaginations led by CMA Teaching Artist Mackie Saylor. Children and families can move through their space like animals, go to mars in a magic elevator, or groove to the birthday child’s favorite tunes in a dance party challenge. Perfect for children ages 5-9 who enjoy theater, music, or performing their favorite characters and stories. No materials required; all you need is space to move around and an active imagination!
Enjoy a fun and educational art class led by CMA Associate Director of Programming, Raquel Du Toit. Children and families can learn about their favorite artists, such as Frida Kahlo or Picasso, then enjoy a specialized art-making activity like watercolor painting, clay sculpture, oil pastels, collage, and more. Perfect for children ages 6-11, though younger and older children are always welcome! Families will need to provide their own art materials, though low-cost and household materials are often recommended.
