Learn to Draw from “Muppets” Illustrator Guy Gilchrist

This past January, world-renowned illustrator, author, and Muppets cartoonist Guy Gilchrist led a virtual all-ages workshop on drawing characters from his latest multimedia children’s book, Monster Dance, published by Madeleine Editions. Award-winning True Blood actor and Monster Dance narrator Denis O’Hare read the story aloud during the virtual workshop.

First, watch a video of Denis reading Monster Dance.

Next, follow along as Guy shows us how to draw the story’s beloved monsters!

About Monster Dance

Meet Maurice, an endearingly melodramatic dog, and Charlie, an artistic little girl, as they take on a world that’s suddenly gone topsy-turvy. A doctor’s initiative, Monster Dance leaves the youngest readers with the lasting and hopeful message that living with a virus — or any sickness — isn’t just “waiting it out.” Together, Maurice and Charlie can make every day count and do what they do best — grow with joy. For every book sold, Madeleine Editions donates three PPE masks to be purchased and distributed by non-profit donatePPE.org to arm healthcare heroes around the world. Books can be purchased here.
