This Week in Magic on Film

We had a terrific week filming our collaborative film! Together, we edited scenes from our movie and added final touches. Students were encouraged to create their own imaginary creatures and worked on adding more details to our puppets and backgrounds. We even experimented with Zoom virtual backgrounds to create special effects!

One student, Helen, was able to make their “eye of horus” puppet float by attaching it to a blue stick, superimposed on a blue background, and used the virtual background to hide their hands. Another student, Aidan, used a flashlight to add more visual effects and a cowbell to add sound effects. Students were so creative with using Zoom settings, props, and their individual living spaces to create different effects on film. Get a taste of the fun in the short film compiled by Teaching Artist Katie Cheng below.
