Frank Santoro’s graphic novel “Pittsburgh” is full of marker drawings that detail his life as a boy growing up in the titular city. The buildings and landscapes of the area make up most of the drawings in the book, along with portraits of family members and other members of the community that he is from. In this project, we will be using our light table and transparent material to create a collaborative neighborhood out of drawings. The drawings that were made first will start to get hazy and blurry as more drawings get placed on top, so they look farther away! Together, we can create a neighborhood while also learning about depth and perspective.
