Margarita Cabrera has a series of desert plants that are sculpted using the uniforms of border patrol agents. Using a material as part of a sculpture can help transform a problem into something more beautiful and beneficial. This week in the gallery, we’ll be using plastic bags, newspaper, and other common discarded items to create plant-like sculptures of our own, in order to turn the problem of pollution into decorations for our spaces.
