Young artists will be exposed to a variety of projects that encourage them to play with line, color, shape, and form. Starting with color mixing, students will break down and explore elements of a painting, then work to bring them to life in their own compositions. Along the way, they will discover their own sense of creative confidence and learn how contemporary and historical artists made / make their art.
Students will look at the work of a different artist each session, starting with the Italian Renaissance Masters (and Ninja Turtles) and their teachers (Leonardo da Vinci in Andrea del Verrocchio’s studio, Michelangelo Buonarroti in Domenico Ghirlandaio’s studio, Donatello di Niccolò di Betto Bardi, who assisted Lorenzo Ghiberti, and Raphael Sanzio da Urbino who assisted Pietro Perugino). Students will also explore Modern and Contemporary artists including Diego Rivera, Marc Chagall, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Faith Ringgold, all while considering how art makes our world.
This class takes place on Mondays from September 14 — December 14, 2020 from 4pm to 5:30pm. Class size is limited to 15 students. This class takes place on Eastern Time (ET).
