In the words of Tim Gunn, learn how to “make it work” in this unconventional fashion design class! Young designers will develop their creativity in a series of fun and challenging projects. Students will become familiar with a variety of textiles and develop drawing and problem-solving skills, as they brainstorm ideas for the final pieces in their collection. They will also explore fundamental design principles including pattern, form and function through a series of projects, including fabric printing, weaving, and creating their own wearables!. Teaching Artists will expose students to the work of such fashion pioneers as Stephen Jones, Alexander McQueen and Rei Kawakubo. The class will culminate in a fabulous runway show in CMA’s gallery.
