In this online camp, students will be introduced to the basic concepts of game design and sequential storytelling through hands-on projects and immersion into a digitally interactive experience. This camp will help students hone their analytical, technical, and compositional skills as they are introduced to narrative concepts, graphic design techniques, and user-friendly game design software such as Scratch. Through simple coding, students will collaborate to bring their original art and story into a point-and-click game. Students will also learn about the history, process, and various types of video games as they imagine and create their own. The camp will culminate with an interactive online game that students can share with friends and family. Class size is limited to 15 children.
Suggested Art Materials: Scratch software (available for free), butcher paper, construction paper, scissors, glue sticks, cardboard, markers. Prior to class, students will receive a curated list with purchase links, as well as DIY alternatives.
