Can’t get enough of graphic novels? Learn to create your own! In this unique interactive camp, students will learn about the tradition of sequential art used in American comics, manga, and contemporary graphic novels. Young artists will learn techniques in cartoon and perspective drawing, character design, cover art, and storyboarding as they work on a chapter of their very own graphic novel. Students will be introduced to the work of well-known graphic novelists such as Kazu Kibuishi, Chris Ware, and Alison Bechdel. This class is perfect for those new to the art of the graphic novel, as well as those familiar with the process. Class size is limited to 15 children.
Suggested Art Materials: white paper sketch pad, construction paper, markers, ink pens, pencil, watercolors, color pencils, eraser. Prior to class, students will receive a curated list with purchase links, as well as DIY alternatives.
