Can you create your own imaginary world? In this online art camp, young artists will explore the art of set design, from dioramas to transforming their room into magical spaces. Using papier-maché, wire structures, and recycled materials found at home, this camp will approach the design process from various angles, taking inspiration from Alexander Calder’s Circus as well as students’ favorite books and films. After the scene is set, young designers will be invited to create their own collaborative film, which will be screened virtually on the final day of camp. Class size is limited to 15 children.
Suggested Art Materials: scissors, tape, pencils, glue, cardboard, cloth (material), yarn, paint, markers, wire, wire cutters, tissue paper, construction paper, newspaper, sheets, blankets, chairs, cardboard boxes. Prior to class, students will receive a curated list with purchase links, as well as DIY alternatives.
Please Note: This class takes place on Eastern Standard Time (EST).
