Private Art Lessons

CMA’s private art lessons offer one-on-one mentorship for those interested in further developing skills, working on a special project, or fulfilling a portfolio requirement. Students choose their medium and a dedicated CMA Teaching Artist will assist them in achieving their artistic goals.

Private lessons cost $150 per one hour of instruction, with a minimum of four sessions required.

Meet the Instructors

Jacob Hicks

Jacob is a magical realist painter and educator from Texas. He has exhibited extensively and currently shows with Gallery Henoch in Manhattan. Jacob has taught children and teens for West Nottingham Academy, New York Art Studio, Manhattan Youth, and CMA.

Specialties: Painting, Drawing, Illustration, Graphic Novels, Comics, Cartoons, Portfolio Development

Samantha Hansen

Samantha is a visual artist and educator based in Brooklyn. She explores the many dimensions of emotion and mental health through her work. She has taught children of all ages throughout the five boroughs and loves using art as a tool to help children grow their imagination and creativity.

Specialities: Stop-Motion Animation, Clay Sculpture, Life Drawing, Collage, Painting, Art History

Refund and Cancellation Policy

Please provide 48 hours notice prior to your scheduled private lesson in order to receive a full refund. You must provide 24 hours notice prior to your scheduled private lesson to receive a partial refund. Cancellations on the day of the scheduled private lesson will not be refunded.
