Reproductions of nature often obscure the struggle of power that exists in the natural world. Roses pictured in advertisements have no thorns, no discoloration, and no scent. In Difficult Conditions (a title inspired by a chapter of a gardening book), Elissa Levy will cover the Bridge Space in a collaged-painted wall covering of images found in gardening books and newspapers. These images are excised, scaled up or shrunk down, pinned or glued back together, re-photographed and reprinted to create collages, wallpaper, draping fabrics and three dimensional elements. Nature naturally balances order and chaos and plays with our perspectives of scale; tall trees, short bushes, tiny flowers and large boulders will all be found in the Bridge.
